Carmichael Scores 19 in Loss to Mount Aloysius

Cresson, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team finished the first round of their AMCC schedule on Saturday with a loss at Mount Aloysius. The Panthers fell behind early and were never able to catch up with the game finishing 90-56 in favor of the Mounties.

Game Notes:

  • Pitt-Bradford struggled to find space against a tough Mount Aloysius defense in the early going, as the Mounties quickly built up an 8-0 lead to start the game.
  • The Panthers cut the lead to 7 with 14 minutes to go, the smallest the deficit would be for the remainder of the game. Nick Carmichael made a put-back layup to end a 3-minute scoreless streak. After the Mounties immediately answered to restore a double-digit lead, Alex Breindel hit a three to cut into the lead.
  • Mount Aloysius continued to add to the lead throughout the remainder of the half, as they were able to answer almost every Panther basket with one of their own to restore or add to their lead.
  • Carmichael got the second half started off the bat, hitting a three-pointer from the top of the key on the Panthers' first possession. Dylan Meyer followed the three with a free throw before Mount Aloysius went on a 22-6 run to open up a 30 point lead, forcing 2 Pitt-Bradford time outs.
  • The Panthers were able to cut into the lead at the ten-minute mark thanks to a 5-0 run by Carmichael. He began the rally with a tough layup inside, and after a defensive stop, completed an old fashioned three-point play on a mid-range jumper.
  • Miles Parker was able to score 5 straight for the Panthers late in the game. He hit a three-pointer and after a Mount Aloysius timeout, converted two free throws.

Leaders

  • Nick Carmichael led the Panthers with 19 points. He scored his 19 points in an efficient manner, shooting 8-12 from the field, including 2-4 from three.
