Behrend Softball Takes Two at Fredonia

FREDONIA, NY - The Penn State Behrend softball finished the regular season with a sweep of the Fredonia Blue Devils in non-conference action on Monday.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 6, Fredonia 1
Records: Penn State Behrend (20-17), Fredonia (6-31)

Noteworthy: 

* Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) and Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) were involved in the first four runs of the game
* Petitte had a pair of two RBI home runs in the first and third innings to give the Lions a 4-0 lead
* Fredonia tacked on its lone run in the fifth, before Behrend added two more runs in the sixth
* In the sixth, Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) tripled and scored on a ground out by Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier)
* Kaitlyn Ezzone (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) hit an RBI double to get home pinch runner Kaitlyn Gates-Bowersox (Union City, PA/Union City)
* McNany went 3-for-4 with two runs and a double
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) recorded her 10th win of the season in the complete game, while striking out six and allowing one earned run on four hits

Game Two:  Penn State Behrend 11, Fredonia 1
Records: Penn State Behrend (21-17), Geneva (6-32)
 
Noteworthy: 

* The Lions held a 13-5 advantage in hits and 11-1 difference in runs
* Behrend had four multi-run innings, including four in the seventh inning
* Chloe McLaughlin (Greenville, PA/Reynolds) went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run
* Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) tallied a pair of hits
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) went the distance without allowing an earned run and struck out four
* Behrend registered three runs in the first to take the lead for good
* J. McNany singled, advanced to second on the first out and scored on an RBI single by McLaughlin
* Petitte doubled and then scored with McLaughlin on an error for a three-run lead
 
Next Up: 
 
* The Lions return to action on Thursday in the AMCC Championships. Behrend will face the winner of La Roche and Pitt-Bradford at 4 p.m.
