Eagles End Scoreless After Lightning Delay

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The women's soccer match ended scoreless after waiting in an hour-long lightning delay against Penn State Altoona Sunday evening at Gibbel Stadium.

The first half saw the Lions outshooting the Eagles 6-3, with Avery Zales making three saves before the delay. Emma Greggo took a chance early, but her shot went wide in the second minute. Trying to break through the Lion defense, Savanna Murray took a wide shot in the third minute. Mariah McDonald attempted in the tenth minute, but the ball went wide. The Lions followed with six shots, three landing on frame.

The game was paused for about two hours, with just over one minute in the first half remaining due to lightning before the game could continue.

The Lions managed five shots to Juniata's two in the second half. Colleen O'Brien was able to rip a header off in the 60th minute, but the Lion goalie snatched it. Daniela Scipioni took a wide shot in the 75th minute.

Zales made three more saves in the second half to total six on the day.

The Eagles will be back on the road at Albright Wednesday, September 7, at 7:00 pm.
