Redhawks Bring Home Road Win over Juniata

Huntington, PA - Tonight while the men played at home, the Lady Redhawks (5-3, 2-0) traveled to Juniata College to take on the Eagles (4-6, 0-1).  

Starting for the Eagles were Steph Emert (Hooversville, PA), Haily Sherman (Marysville, PA), Averie Hess (Jersey Shore, PA), Dani Scipion (Altoona, PA), and Sarah Betts (Hawk Run, PA). 

For the Redhawks, Danajah Sanders (Cleveland, OH), Ayanna Mazyck (Philadelphia, PA), Shaundrea Butler (Cleveland, OH), Makayla Abram (Steubenville, OH), and Nia Thomas (Backenridge, PA). 

La Roche was able to control the narrative of this contest very quickly, and came prepared to play their game, and no one else's. With this mentality, the team walked away with their first win of 2022. 

Leading for the Redhawks was Nia Thomas. Thomas scored 19 points on the night, and contributed five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. 

Following right after her was Ayanna Mazyck. Mazyck was the leading rebounder with eight rebounds, and the second leading scorer with 16 points but into the book at the end of tonight's contest. 

The final LRU competitor to score double digits was Makayla Abram with 15. Abram also added five rebounds and one block. 

Sarah Hess led the Eagles with 14 points. Hess also has four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. 

Falling in step was Steph Emert with 10 points, and seven rebounds, and five steals. 

The leading rebounder for Geneva was Haily Sherman with nine rebounds on the night.
