Panthers Push Win Streak to 13, Beat LaRoche 3-0

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team swept LaRoche on Saturday to win its 13th straight match.

After a week away from the court, the Panthers got off to a slow start but were able to come back and win the opener 25-22. They breezed to a 25-10 win in the second set and closed with a 25-17 win in the third.

  • The Redhawks took off to an early 3-9 lead in the opening set, but a 5 point serving run from Stephanie Carson saw the Panthers cut the lead to one. Down 20-22 in the set, the Panthers finished with 5 straight points to take the first. The Panthers forced 3 attack errors and got a service ace from Kayla Maslowski and a block from Jordan Sitler and Olivia Reese to win the set.
  • The Panthers continued the run in the second set, scoring 8 straight. Pitt-Bradford pushed their lead to double digits on another block and after the hosts scored 4 of 5, scored 11 of 15 points to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
  • In the third set, Emily Cleveland took over, putting down 7 of her game-high 14 kills in the closing set. This included a run of 4 that saw the panthers push their advantage to 6 points. Another 4-point serving run from Carson saw the Panthers put the game away and lock up the win.

Emily Cleveland led all players with 14 kills. She hit .357 in the match and added 1.5 blocks. Tabitha Walker dished out 26 assists, pushing her league-leading total to 520. Olivia Reese put down 3 kills without an error, and was a big part of the Panthers' defensive effort, leading with 15 digs. Kayla Maslowski also had double-digit digs, finishing with 11.

The Panthers are 14-3 on the season with a 2-0 record in AMCC play. The Panthers will now prepare for a rematch of the 2019 AMCC Championship as they will host Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
