Behrend Softball Takes Game One Against Marietta; Falls in Game Two

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with the Marietta Pioneers on Sunday. The Lions posted a 5-2 victory in the opener and fell 11-1 in game two.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 5, Marietta 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (15-14), Marietta (20-11)

Key Moments: 

* The Lions never trailed in game one, scoring in the first and then taking a 3-1 lead into the third
* Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) drove in Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) in the first inning
* Behrend tallied three hits and scored a pair of runs in the second to take the lead for good

ocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) had a two RBI single up the middle to score Maddie Smith (DuBois, PA/DuBois) and Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City)
* Tingley pitched the complete game for her sixth win of the season
* Tingley allowed six hits and two runs, while striking out four
* Marietta managed a run in the, but the Lions answered with two in the fifth for the final margin
* J. McNany finished with two hits and one run

Key Moments: 

* The Pioneers scored 11 runs on 14 hits to split with the Lions
* Marietta registered two runs in the second, three in the third and six in the fifth
* Behrend tallied the lone run in the fourth inning
* Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) tallied a hit and also got the RBI in the fourth to score Petitte
* Kaitlyn Ezzone (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) threw 4.1 innings for her third loss this season
