Women’s Volleyball Team Begins 2021 Season on the Road

The Wells College women's volleyball team traveled to Alfred State College for its first match since 2019. With just one starter from that 2019 team, Wells put almost an entirely new roster on the floor and although the Express wasn't able to leave the Orvis Activities Center with a victory, they did show tremendous progress throughout the night's three sets.

After an opening 25-8 set loss, Wells more than doubled its point total in the second set with 18 and was just a point away in the third set of sending the game beyond 25.

Leading the way for Wells with four kills each was Makenzie Drown and Caroline Barr, with the latter recording a team-high four digs.

Other team leaders were Roosa Armstead-Lehti, who delivered four service aces and Lexi Carfi, who finished with eight assists.

The Wells College women's volleyball team heads to Keuka College this weekend for a pair of matches on Friday and Saturday. Next up on Sept. 3, the Express begin play against King's College (Pa.) at 4 p.m. followed by a match against Mt. St. Mary at 6 p.m.
