Women's Soccer Gears Up for HLM Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team will host the annual Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament this weekend at the soccer complex on Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and 5.

Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions opened the season against non-conference Allegheny on Wednesday, posting a 3-0 result
* Angela Belack (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Trinity Prestash (Phillipsburg, PA/West Branch) netted their first collegiate goals, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead
* Junior midfielder Karla Ochoa (Pharr, TX/IDEA Toros College Prepatory) scored an insurance goal on a 35-yard direct kick for the final margin
* Morgan Harding (Pittsburgh, PA/Carlynton) made three diving saves in the contest to record her first career shut out
* The win puts head coach Patrick O'Driscoll two wins away from 200
* The Lions and Yellow Jackets are meeting for the 16th time in program history. BW holds a 10-5-1 record against Behrend. The Lions won the last meeting 2-0 in 2018 in the HLM Tournament
* The Lions and Wooster are playing for the first time since 2008. The Fighting Scots lead the series 4-1

Meet the Opposition:

* Baldwin Wallace fell 2-0 to Kalamazoo in the season opener on Wednesday
* The Yellow Jackets tallied a 4-5 overall and OAC record in conference-only play last spring
* BW returns 18 letterwinners this season, including seven seniors

* The Fighting Scots enter the tournament 1-0 after defeating Marietta on Wednesday by a score of 3-1
* Katie Schumacher scored two second-half goals to help Wooster win their home opener
* Wooster returns NCAC Offensive Player of the Year and All-Region selection Miura Wiley
* Wiley led the team with seven goals and seven assists in 2019

* Fredonia opened the season at home against Alfred, tying 2-all
* Katie Sellers and Bri Grazen netted the goals for the Blue Devils
* Fredonia was picked to finish seventh in the SUNYAC preseason coaches' poll
