Panthers Return Home Looking to End Slide as Schneider Approaches 1,000

Bradford, Pa. --The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team will return to KOA Arena on Wednesday night as they host the Alfred State Pioneers looking to end a two-game skid. The Panthers are also hoping for a celebration, as senior Nate Schneider enters the contest 17 points shy of reaching the 1,000 career point milestone.

In their first matchup this season, the Panthers had a hot shooting start, as they made 71.4% of shots from the field to build a 53-38 halftime lead. The hosts were able to battle back, getting the lead down to just three points, but the Panthers were able to prevail, winning 92-85. Schneider filled up the stat sheet in the game, leading the Panthers with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocked shots. Caden Beldin, Jeremy Rodriguez, Phillip Wallace, and B.J. Williams all reached double figures for the Panthers. Paris Jamison led Alfred State with a game-high 33 points. 5 other Pioneers also reached double figures.

The Panthers are 9-10 on the season with a 3-5 record in conference play. They are currently in the 6th and final playoff spot. They are coming off of a tough week that saw them lose two road matchups in the final minute. They fell to Hilbert on a last-second basket and then took 1st Place LaRoche to the limit, leading in the final 2 minutes, but were unable to close the game out, falling 77-72. Schneider led all scorers with 24, while Wallace added 14. Schneider leads the AMCC in scoring and rebounding, as he averages 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Wallace adds 13.8 points per game, while freshman Jeremy Rodriguez is scoring 11.5 per contest.

The Pioneers are 6-13 on the season and 2-6 in AMCC competition. They are just below the Panthers, in 7th place in the AMCC standings. The Pioneers have had a balanced scoring attack, as three players average more than 14 points per game. Jamison leads the team at 15.5, while Dylan Perry and Cody Schneider each score 14.1 per contest. Schneider is also the team's leading rebounder at 7.3 per game
