DELHI, N.Y. (November 10, 2021) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team put "fourth" a strong final quarter following a shaky start versus Alfred State Wednesday evening. Although it was the Pioneers who took a 60-49 win, the Broncos outscored A-State in the fourth period, 21-8, to perhaps issue a sign of things to come in the early part of their season.

Guest Alfred State led in rebounds, 59-34, including a 27-4 lead in offensive boards that produced a 21-2 lead in second-chance points. The Pioneers led at the half, 34-14, before SUNY Delhi answered by outscoring its visitors, 35-26, in the second half, including reducing a 33-point third-quarter deficit to just 11 at the final horn. This effort was led by Angelica Lazo dropping in a team-best 16 points with three steals, while Jahddah Lennon roped in a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds (all defensive) with five assists. Jennifer Roche tallied eight points and a team-best four steals off the bench, all in the second half.

Delhi posted higher numbers in field goal percentage at 37.5 percent (21-for-56) to Alfred State's 32.0 (24-for-75), while making 2-of-6 threes and 5-of-9 from the free throw line.

Head coach Aiden McRoberts and the Broncos make their first road trip for their next two games, beginning at Houghton Saturday at 2:00 p.m. then SUNY Oswego Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Coach's Comments...

"I'm incredibly proud of the players for their play in the second half of the game. It showed everyone that this team has a lot of potential as long as the team concept stays at the forefront of our trainings. We found confidence in ourselves tonight and I am very proud of the team for continuing to fight. I think we learned a lot about who we are and what we are capable of when we play together." - Head Coach Aiden McRoberts
