All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team. These individuals are selected by vote of their teammates.
Harkins led the Baron defense with 15 groundballs while causing five turnovers in the 15-14 win over Alfred State in the AMCC men's lacrosse showcase final. Harkins finished his first year with the Barons with 125 groundballs and 47 caused turnovers, both of which are single-season records for Franciscan.
McCaig led the Barons to a 15-14 win in the AMCC showcase finals with five goals and two assists while picking up six ground balls. McCaig kicked off a 4-1 run in the final 7:32 of regulation to seal the victory for the Barons. His seven points gives him 217 for his career while he ends his time at Franciscan with 142 goals and 75 assists.
Alfred State College and Franciscan University battled back and forth all afternoon in the AMCC Showcase final. The Barons scored four of the last five goals of the game, including the game-winner with 3:14 remaining, to earn the 15-14 victory.
The Alfred State College men's lacrosse team scored nine unanswered goals in the 2nd quarter as they defated Medaille 21-8 in the first game of the AMCC Showcase. The Pioneers outshot the Mavericks 69 to 30 in the contest as nine different Pioneers found the back of the net.
The second annual AMCC Men's Lacrosse Showcase Tournament opens up Wednesday afternoon as #3 Medaille College travels to #1 Alfred State College and #2 Franciscan University hosts #4 La Roche College.
McCaig led the Barons to a 1-0 week with 11 points behind four goals and seven assists. McCaig scored his 200th career point with his first goal against La Roche.
Balsavage was dominant in a 2-0 week for the Hawks forcing nine turnovers and scooping up nine ground balls. In the Hawks' first ever win over Keuka College he caused four turnovers and currently leads the team with 30 caused turnovers and 51 ground balls.
Schindler led the Hawks to a 2-0 week as he netted nine goals on just 14 shots including a seven shot, seven goal performance in a win over Medaille. Schindler has surged onto the scene moving into second place on the team with 27 goals scored this season.
Good was a thorn in the side of his offensive counterparts in a 2-0 week for the Hawks. He caused five turnovers in a road win at Wells and followed it it up with four more on the road at Franciscan. He also scooped up eight ground balls and dished out an assist in a pivotal week for Hilbert as they secured a spot in the AMCC showcase tournament.
Schindler led the Hawks to a pair of wins last week. He earned Player of the Game honors with his four goal, two assist performance in a road win at Wells and followed that up with an eight point performance (5g, 3a) in a convincing AMCC win at Franciscan. For the week, he scored nine goals on 13 shots and assisted on five others, while also gathering in four ground balls.
Stevenson returned to action and held a tough SUNY Poly team in check finishing with 14 saves in Hilbert’s 5-4 victory. Stevenson limited the high-scoring Wildcats to just four goals during a crazy 50 mile-per-hour wind storm.
Fales had a strong week for the Mavericks, scoring 10 goals and adding five assists for 15 total points as Medaille won their first game of the year against La Roche. In that game against the Redhawks, Fales was nearly unstoppable, scoring six goals and dishing out four assists for a career high 10 points. He did all of that on eight total shots.
Crowley was crucial in the Pioneers' ball control in their 16-3 victory over Medaille. He was 19 for 22 in the faceoff circle and grabbed a team-high 15 groundballs. He also netted a goal early in the contest.
McCartney led the Barons to a 1-1 week. He had five goals and two assists in each game and also picked up 18 ground balls including 12 against Adrian, while also causing three turnovers. McCartney had 34 shots for the week, 15 on goal. He leads the team with 21 goals for the season.
Franciscan University senior Mike Rosaschi and freshman Jerome Harkins picked up their second weekly honor as the pair was named ECAC South Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Harkins set a single-game record with 22 ground balls against Medaille, finishing the week with 33 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. He won 17-25 face offs and only turned the ball over five times in two games.
Rosaschi finished the week with 22 points, including six goals and seven assists against Medaille. He scored one man up goal and had only three turnovers for the week. Rosaschi had a 78.3 shot on goal percentage and surpassed the 100-point mark for his career against Medaille.
Cobb recorded his first career victory in goal as the Pioneers defeated Cazenovia (first ever win vs. the Wildcats). Cobb recorded 22 saves including three in the final five minutes to preserve the one-goal victory.
Duffy had a strong week netting four goals and dishing out three assists on the Hawks' spring break trip. He was also strong in the riding game, causing a pair of turnovers and scooping up fivew loose balls.
Stevenson was spectacular in an overtime win at Thiel making several huge stops early and late to preserve the win. He also made a critical play in the clearing game which took away a big transition scoring opportunity for the Tomcats.
Mathias scored a pair of goals in an overtime win at Thiel, including the game-tying goal late in the 4th quarter. He then assisted on the game winner. Teammate Tyler Balsavage found Mathias in transition who then hit teammate Jimmy Duffy on the crease for the game-winning goal.
Hilbert College and John Czarnecki, the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, are pleased to announce that Mike Carbery will serve as the athletic department’s Compliance and Student Services Coordinator as well as head coach for the men’s lacrosse program.
Medaille College Athletics Director Amy DeKay announced the appointment of Dan Patrone as the school's new Head Men's Lacrosse Coach and Equipment Manager.
