Men’s Soccer drops AMCC match to La Roche

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's soccer lost a 5-1 AMCC matchup to La Roche University on the road Tuesday night.

What looked to be a close game on the box score – La Roche held a narrow 18-15 shot margin and had a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal – ended up falling in favor of the Red Hawks (3-9-1, 2-3-1 AMCC).

The Celtics (1-10-1, 0-5 AMCC) afforded the Red Hawks a goal early on a penalty kick just three minutes into the game.

Gavin Moore scored an unassisted goal at 25' to tie it up and put another shot on shortly after but could not get the second one to fall.

The Red Hawks went ahead, 2-1, after a goal at 39' to take the lead into halftime.

La Roche scored just seconds into the second half and would tack on two more goals 10 minutes apart at 56' and 66' to solidify the win.

Moore put three shots on goal, and La Roche's Jake Gorman tallied two goals and an assist on the night.

Goalkeeper Kevin Garcia was tabbed with the loss after stopping four shots in the complete game effort.

The Celtics travel to Wells (N.Y.) College for an AMCC game Oct. 14.
