Women’s Volleyball drops nonconference road match to Lycoming College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Carlow University women's volleyball lost, 3-1, to Lycoming College in a nonconference road match Tuesday night.

The Warriors extended their win streak to eight games, improving to 10-1 with the win over the Celtics (6-5).

Rebecca Hess, Alison Humberston and Megan Cooper each tallied 10 kills on the night. Meghan Alexander recorded 37 assists, Claire Yezovich managed 10 digs and Hess added three service aces in the effort.

Carlow tied the first set, 9-9, but the Warriors went on a 12-3 run to gain a 21-12 advantage.

Hess landed a kill after a Carlow time out to narrow Lycoming's lead, but back-to-back kills put the first set away for the Warriors, 25-18.

Carlow rallied in the second set to win, 25-20.

The Celtics battled back from an early deficit to gain a 10-8 advantage. The Warriors tied the game several times, but Carlow extended its lead to 23-18.

Back-to-back kills from Humberston and Cooper put the set away for the Celtics and evened the match, 1-1.

The Warriors jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the third set, and a service ace ended the game, 25-15, in favor of Lycoming.

Lycoming hit .467 in the fourth set to eliminate the Celtics, 25-12, and seal its victory.

The Warriors tallied double-digit kills in every set.

Two Lycoming athletes recorded 14 kills apiece, and the Warriors held a 9-4 advantage in service aces over the Celtics.

Carlow returns to action with a tri-match at Thiel College Friday, Sept. 29.
