Men's Volleyball: Bison Fall Short Against Carlow

Pittsburgh, Pa.- Men's volleyball traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to take on Carlow. They dropped three straight sets. 

THE MATCHUP

Carlow 3, Bethany 0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-20)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bethany struggled to get things started in the first set. After keeping it close only trailing by three, they fell to a deep 23-13 hole. They went on a seven point run trying to put together a big comeback. Unfortunately the Bison weren't able to complete the turnaround. Carlow wins the first set 25-20.

  • The Bison were able to score first in the second set. The Celtics responded with two separate six point runs. Bethany fell in the second set 25-9.

  • The third set was Bethany's most successful. Carlow did have an early five point run to break the tie, putting the Celtics up 8-3. 

  • A few points later the Bison answered back with a five point run of their own. James Lucht served two aces in that stretch.

  • A host of Bison slammed a kill to tie the set at 12 a piece. McKay Ginez, Tyler Johnson, and Rylan Trapp all touched the floor.

  • The Bison took a late 18-16 lead before the Celtics scored four consecutive sets to regain the advantage. Carlow found themselves up 20-18 and were able to convert that lead into a three-set victory over Bethany.

Bison Leaders- 

Alexander Blair assisted 16 of the Bison's 18 kills.

Lucht had 13 points split up between eight kills and four aces. He led the team in each of those categories.

Four Bison had five or more digs: Blair and Lucht had six while Johnson and Leonardo Locatelli had five.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Bison will travel to a familiar Presidents Athletic Conference school on Tuesday, March 26th. Chatham will host the match beginning at 6PM.
