Pioneers Dropped Today's Doubleheader At Oswego State

Oswego, NY- The Alfred State baseball team dropped today's doubleheader against Oswego State 5-4 and 11-1.

In game one, Ryan Kinney and Jon White made appearances with White suffering the loss. Anthony Snyder went 2-3 with a stolen base while Elijah Barinas and Jack Curabba went 2-4 at the plate.

The Pioneers got on the board first with a run in their first at-bat. Bobby Sellers led off with a single and advanced to third in the next few plays. He would score on an error to take a 1-0 lead. Then in the second, the Pioneers got the bases loaded from two singles and a walk, then a sacrifice fly from Sellers made it a 2-0 game.

The Pioneers added another run in the third, as Curabba led off with a single then advanced to second on an error. After reaching third on a groundout, Devin Mersmann laid down a sacrifice bunt for the 3-0 lead.

The Lakers would put up four runs in the third to take the lead. The Pios then tied the game with a run in the fifth. Barinas singled toward first base then advanced to third on an error. Curabba then notched an RBI single through the right side to tie the game at 4-4. The Lakers would walk of the game in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.

In game two, the Lakers took the lead in the second and ASC answered with a run of their own in the third. With one out, Schatz and Conner Kiefer both reached on errors. Then Schatz would score on another error to tie the game at 1-1. Oswego took control of game of the game and held off the Pioneers offense to take the win.
