Men’s Soccer falls to Central Penn College in USCAA matchup

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. --- Carlow University men's soccer lost, 3-0, to visiting Central Penn College at AHN Montour Junction Sports Complex Friday evening.

Central Penn's Jacob Philippe scored a hat trick to lead the 5-1 Knights past the Celtics (0-3-1).

Philippe scored Central Penn's first goal in the 25th minute when a shot ricocheted off the left post and landed at his feet in front of the net.

The Celtics held the Knights scoreless the remainder of the first half.

Dylan Luong found Philippe with a cross in front of the net to put the Knights ahead, 2-0, in the 62nd minute.

Central Penn's final goal was a successful penalty kick at 73' after the Celtics committed a foul inside the box.

The Knights kept Carlow on its heels most of the game, out-shooting the Celtics 14-2 (8-1 on goal) and holding a 10-1 corner kick advantage.

Goalkeeper Kevin Garcia made five stops in the complete game effort.

Carlow returns to action with a road trip to Penn State Mont Alto Monday, Sept. 18.
