Blazers Swept in Day Two Action

CLERMONT, FL - The Elms College Softball team continued their 2024 Spring Break trip in a non-conference doubleheader Monday against Penn State-Brehrend and Allegheny College at Legends Way for the Spring Games Collegiate Softball Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
PSU-Behrend Lions got on the board quickly in the top of the first inning scoring five runs but the Blazers would answer back with four runs of their own with RBIs from junior Kyla Cook (Taunton, MA) and first-year Amanda Raymond (Auburn, ME). 

First-year Kaelyn Zakaitis (Amherst, MA) started on the mound for the Blazers, giving up six hits over three innings. Cook, Raymond and first-year Caity Flynn (Colchester, CT) each collected one hit for Elms, with Cook having 3 RBIs. 

Game 2
The Blazers had trouble keeping up with the Allegheny Gators offense on Monday. First-year Jill Dykema (Prescott, CT) started on the mound for the Blazers, with Flynn and Zakaitis also making appearances. 

Senior Josie Cammarata (Wolcott, CT) and Raymond each collected a hit for the Blazers, and first-year Keira Stevens (Turner Falls, MA) contributed with a walk.

The Blazers will look to rebound in their trip Wednesday.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Raymond adds a double, triple, and a run batted in to her young career total.

• Cook recorded a triple and three runs batted in throughout the day.

UP NEXT: The Elms Softball team will take on Penn State University-Brandywine and DeSales University in a doubleheader in Leesburg, FL at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex on Wednesday, March 6th at 10:15 AM and 12:15 PM.
