Saint Vincent bests Women’s Tennis for second time

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's tennis lost, 6-3, to visiting Saint Vincent College at the Schenley Park Courts Tuesday night.

It was the second time this season the Bearcats (9-4) bested the Celtics (1-7) by the same score.

Sofia Hernandez led the Celtics after tiebreak wins at both No. 6 singles and with teammate Reagan Redford in the No.3 doubles spot.

Hernandez and Redford battled to a 7-7 tie in doubles before a decisive 7-3 win in the tie-break set.

Hernandez then took her No. 6 singles match to a tie-break set after losing the first set, 6-3, and coming back to win the second, 6-5.

She won the tie-break, 10-5.

The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams of Karissa Miller / Julia Piatt and Caitlin McCarthy / Jensen Stolitza both narrowly lost their sets, 8-6.

Piatt swept her No. 2 singles match, 6-1/6-1, and almost every Celtic won a few sets on the night.
