Pioneers Dropped A Hard Fought Matchup Against Willamette

Salem, OR- The Alfred State baseball team fell in today's matchup against Willamette, 11-2. The Pioneers drop to 4-9 on the season.

The Pios through three arms with Spencer Riehler got the start and suffered the loss. Zach Miner and Tre Slawson also made appearances. At the plate, Tyler Petery went 3-5 with a stolen base. While Tyler Korsky tallied an RBI single.

The Pioneers got on the board first with a run in their first at-bat. Petery led off with a single up the middle. Elijah Barinas would then get walked. Two batters later, Korsky notched his RBI single to right field to take the 1-0 lead.

The Bearcat followed with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first. ASC was able to get another run across in the top of the second. With two outs, Petery singled towards the shortstop. The Barinas would reach on an error, while Petery was able to score to make it a 2-1 game.

Willamette was able hold the Pioneers at bay as they went on to win 11-2.
