Rider Tallies 13th in Panther Loss

Erie, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team lost its AMCC Game of the Week matchup with Penn State Behrend despite leading scorer Chase Rider scoring his 13th of the season.

The Panthers struggled to gain possession out of the gate, as the hosts were able to pressure the Panther goal early. Pitt-Bradford was able to hold of the Lions until a scramble in front of the net after a corner kick saw the Lions open the scoring. They added a second goal with five minutes to go before the break.

The Panthers were able to keep the Lions off the board to begin the second half and were able to cut the lead to one in the 72nd minute. AMCC leading scorer Chase Rider was able to intercept an errant clearance from the Behrend goalkeeper, and chip a shot into the open net for his 13 goal of the season. The hosts were able to add a third five minutes later to restore their two-goal advantage, and hold on to win the game 3-1.

Rider's goal came on his only shot of the game. He has scored or assisted in 9 of 10 games played this season. Brent Kennedy led the Panthers with two shots, while Scott Compson and Jan Winnewisser each put an effort on target. Sihle Sizani made 4 saves in goal for the Panthers.

The Panthers (4-6-1, 2-2-0 AMCC) will have the weekend off, before returning to action against Hilbert at home on Tuesday, October 12th. The game is scheduled for a 4:15 kickoff.
