Tartans Earn Second Victory of Season

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team secured a hard-fought victory against Penn State Behrend on Saturday, defeating the Lions, 78-74 at Allegheny College. The win marks a 2-0 start to the season for the Tartans, with Saturday's victory coming against a formidable opponent that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season.

• The game was a back-and-forth battle, with key contributions coming from multiple players on the Tartan side.
• Senior Catherine Or led the team with an outstanding performance, scoring 19 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out five assists.
• Classmate Isha Nambisan also made significant contributions with 17 points and 12 rebounds, making essential plays during crucial moments of the game.
• Savannah Gibbs added 13 points and showcased her defensive presence, while first-year Payton Baney came off the bench to chip in 12 points and pull down six rebounds, giving the Tartans a much-needed boost.
• Carnegie Mellon was strong on the glass Saturday, securing 51 total rebounds, which played a pivotal role in maintaining possession and creating second-chance opportunities.
• Alaina Fabian and Rachel Majewski led Behrend's scoring efforts, but Carnegie Mellon's defense stood strong in the final minutes to seal the win.
