Panthers Return to KOA Arena Looking to Jumpstart Conference Win Total

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team returns home for the first time in four games on Wednesday night as they will host Alfred State in an AMCC matchup.

The Panthers (2-12) are off to a rough start in AMCC play, as they have lost their first four games since beginning conference competition. On Saturday, the Panthers were able to battle back from an early 25-15 deficit to tie the game at 36 just two minutes into the second half against first place Penn State-Altoona, but a late 11-0 run from the lions saw the hosts regain control and win the game 77-63. Alexa Ackerman set a new career high with 18 points. Ashley Hall finished with 13 points and added 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Avery Benzel also hit double figures, finishing with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. The Panthers average 56.4 points per game, and are led by Hall, who scores 11.5 per game. Ackerman and freshman Abigail Goss add 6.9 per contest and Benzel is just behind them at 6.1 points per game. Hall also leads the Panthers in rebounding, pulling in 7.3 loose balls per game. Avery Benzel dishes out 3.5 assists per game, which is tied for 4th in the AMCC.

The Alfred State Pioneers enter the game at 4-9 overall, with a 1-3 record in AMCC play. In their last game, the Pioneers struggled offensively at LaRoche, falling to the Redhawks 63-37. Faith McCombs led Alfred State with 14 points and also grabbed 9 rebounds. McCombs is the Pioneers' leading scorer, as she averages 10.7 per game. First-year forward Myah Fox is just behind her at 10.2 points per game and Taylor Benjamin adds 9.8. McCombs is 2nd in the AMCC in rebounds per game, collecting 12.5 per game.
