Miller Scores Career High 20 in Loss to Alfred State

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team hosted Alfred State on Wednesday night, falling by a score of 74-61.

Game Notes

  • The Panthers were able to stay close to the visiting Pioneers in the first period, as they were able to remain tied with Alfred State through the first 7 minutes of action. Ashley Hall made an early bucket inside, Cassidy King hit a three and La'Shyra Williams made a layup on a second chance opportunity to tie the game at 7.
  • The Pioneers got off to a better start than the Panthers in the second quarter, quickly increasing their 4-point first quarter lead into double digits. 
  • Down 16 with 2:20 to go in the half, Shaelyn Snipes hit a three and than a two pointer to start a run that Jasmin Miller finished with an old fashioned three point play to cut the deficit to single digits. 
  • After the half, Pitt-Bradford scored two early buckets through Hall and Miller to put the Panthers down 6. 
  • Alfred State finished the 3rd on an 20-8 run to head to the final quarter up 18.
  • The Panthers used a balanced attack to win the final quarter against the Pioneers. 5 different players scored for Pitt-Bradford as they outscored their opponents 17-12 in the 4th.

Leaders

  • Jasmin Miller scored a career high 20 points in the loss. She hit 7-20 from the field and 6-7 from the line.
  • Shaelyn Snipes went the distance for the Panthers, recording a double-double in the process. She scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
  • Jenna Hicks was a force on the boards for the Panthers, grabbing 15 rebounds, including 5 on the offensive end.

The loss drops the Panthers record to 0-6 on the season with an 0-2 record against AMCC opponents. They will head to Pittsburgh on Saturday to take on LaRoche University at 3:00 p.m.
