Ft. Myers, Fla. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team kicked off its Spring Break trip on Monday, falling to Rockford by a score of 6-1.

• Pitt-Bradford fell behind early, as the Regents scored two runs in the top of the first. Starting pitcher Alex Fetter allowed back-to-back one-out walks before giving up a double to the gap in left-center to bring both runners around. Fetter was able to limit the damage to two as he retired the next two batters on a strikeout and grounder to short. 
• After the Panthers went down in order in the first, Fetter retired the first two batters of the inning, only to see the regents load the bases with two walks and a single. Fetter was able to escape the am with a force out at second base.
• The Panthers threatened to cut into the lead in the 2nd with a short two-out rally of their own. Noah Meyers got things started with a single to left-center and moved to second on a Tyler Aires single back up the middle. Unfortunately, the Panthers were unable to bring the runners around as the next batter struck out to end the inning. 
• The third and fourth innings did not see much action, but the Regents were able to add to their lead in the 5th. Fetter walked the lead-off batter and saw Rockford load the bases with back-to-back singles. He induced a short flyball and was removed in favor of Brayden Hageter. Hageter allowed a single to left and then a sacrifice fly to double the lead to 4-0. On the sacrifice fly, Nico Hall was able to throw the second runner out attempting to move to third to end the inning.
• The Panthers were unable to get anything started offensively, as Hageter kept Rockford at bay. He was able to escape a jam in the 7th. After a single and a Panther error, Hageter struck out a batter before walking the bases loaded. He was able to induce a fly ball to right to end the inning and keep the deficit at 4.
• Pitt-Bradford was able to put together an early rally in the 7th, but once again came up short. Noah Meyers drew a lead-off walk and then moved to second as Aires lined a single through the right side. He was able to steal third but was unable to score as the next three batters struck out to end the inning.
• Rockford tacked on two more runs off Hageter in the 8th. Following a lineout to short, Hageter gave up an infield single and then a run-scoring double down the left-field line. He struck out a batter and induced another grounder, but a throwing error got away from Meyers at 1st, allowing the 6th run to score. He was replaced by Trent Bielak, who was able to strike out a batter to end the inning.
• The Panthers were finally able to get onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the 9th without the benefit of a hit. Tarnowski drew a two-out walk and then moved to third on consecutive wild pitches. After Nico Hall drew a walk, Tarnowski scampered hoe on a final passed ball to score the run. 

The Panthers collected four hits on the day, with Tyler Aires picking up two of them. Justin Dattoli and Noah Meyers also recorded hits for the Panthers. Alex Fetter (0-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing 4 earned runs in 4 and 1/3 innings pitched. He gave up 7 hits and 6 walks while striking out 4. Brayden Hageter allowed 2 runs, 1 earned in 3.1 innings of relief work. He struck out 3. Trent Biela closed the game with 1 and 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. He struck out 3 batters as well.

The Panthers fall to 0-4 on the season. They will take on St. Elizabeth tomorrow in a pair of 7 inning games. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
