AMCC ANNOUNCES WINTER SPORTSMANSHIP TEAMS

All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team.

PIETROPOLA, COTTON, AND MERRILL TAKE TOP HONORS ON WOMEN'S SWIMMING ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

Penn St. Behrend sophomore Mia Pietropola was named the AMCC Women's Swimmer of the Year, while Lion freshman Rachel Cotton was named the Diver of the Year, and Cabrini College's Casey Merrill was Newcomer of the Year.

Cotton was the AMCC Champion in the three-meter board diving event, posting a score of 390.40.

Penn St. Behrend never relinquished the lead it took from Day One at the AMCC championship, finishing the day Saturday with 269 total points and the 2015 conference title.

Pietropola broke nine records, while winning three individual titles and four relay crowns at the AMCC Championships. She repeated as champion in the 200 IM, 100 and 200 breaststroke. Pietropola was tied for the highest point winner at the meet.

Winning four of the seven events that took place Thursday evening, the Penn St. Behrend women ended Day Two of the AMCC Swimming and Diving Championship 74 points ahead of second place Cabrini College.

AMCC WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS KICK OFF ON WEDNESDAY

The AMCC men's and women's swimming and diving championships will kick off on Wednesday, February 11 with the diving competition at Grove City College.

Cotton won each of the one-meter diving events against Pitt-Bradford and St. Vincent. Against the Panthers, she first tallied a 161.10 for five dives and then posted a score of 181.65 for six dives on the second chance at the one-meter board. In the first five dives vs. the Bobcats, she scored 159.70 and in the next six dives she tallied a 198.15.

Pietropola won the 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM with times of 2:34.36 and 2:19.87, respectively, vs. St. Vincent. She also swam a leg on the winning 400 medley relay vs. Pitt-Bradford and 200 free relay vs. St. Vincent.

Melchiorre scored a win and set a new school record in the 500 yard freestyle with a final time of 5:30.13. The sophomore also added wins in the 50 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley in 26.23 and 2:30.71, respectively.

Penn St. Behrend freshman Emma Daghir was named the ECAC South Rookie Swimmer of the Week for the week ending January 18, 2015.

Daghir swam a leg on two winning relays for Behrend and then won the 50 freestyle in 26.26 against W&J on Saturday

Despite the 154-92 loss to Widener on Saturday, Melchiorre found some individual success, placing first in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle in 2:04.18 and 5:36.14, respectively. Melchiorre also combined with teammates to capture a victory in the 200 yard freestyle relay, reaching the wall in 1:47.77.

Penn St. Behrend sophomore Anna Rose Watterson was named ECAC South Swimmer of the Week for the week ending December 14, 2014.

Watterson won two individual events and swam a leg on the record-breaking 800 free relay team. She had the final 200 meter stretch to help break the pool record in the relay. She also won the 1000 and 500 freestyle events.
