The AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week features the 5-0 Penn State Altoona Lions at 4-1 Penn State Behrend.

The Behrend Lions are on their longest win streak of the season at three games and are 5-1 in their past six games. The Lions improved to 6-6 overall and 4-1 in the AMCC with an 89-63 win over Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday night. Behrend also defeated non-conference Bethany 90-62 before break on Dec. 19. Junior guard Rachel Majewski became the 14th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau on Wednesday night, as she made the first shot of the game with a pull-up jumper at the 9:35 mark to reach the milestone. She went on to finish with a game-high 26 points. Sophomore guard Morgan Altavilla scored 22 points for the second consecutive game. Majewski continues to lead the AMCC with 19.2 points per game and is third in field-goals made (86). As a team, Behrend is averaging 17.6 free throws per game

The Penn State Altoona women’s basketball team takes its 5-0 AMCC record on the road Saturday, heading to Erie to face Penn State Behrend. As a team, the Lions are limiting opponents to just a 36.2 percent field goal percentage, which ranks first in the conference. Penn State Altoona is also making a league-best 7.0 three-pointers per game and shooting 32.5 percent from beyond the arc, which is the best percentage in the conference. Sophomore forward Avana Sayles is sixth in the AMCC in points per game (15.5) and 14th in rebounds per game (6.5), and sophomore guard/forward Jaidyn McCracken ranks second in three-point percentage (40.0), third in three-pointers made (26), sixth in field goal percentage (50.0), and seventh in points per game (15.1).

Behrend has a 36-13 lead over Altoona in the all-time series. The Behrend Lions won the last seven contests against the Lions, while Altoona’s last win was a 79-63 victory during the 2018-19 season.
