The AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week features the top two teams in the conference, as the La Roche University Redhawks enter the game undefeated in conference play, while the Penn State Behrend Lions come into the game with an 8-1 record -- their only loss of the season coming to the Redhawks back on January 7. The matchup has potential hosting implications for the upcoming AMCC playoffs

With a 9-0 conference record, La Roche enters the Game of the Week on a 10-game winning streak. When these two teams last faced off, the Redhawks emerged victorious by three points (79-76) in an overtime thriller. Since then La Roche has fine-tuned their game and is ready for the challenge. Senior G Machia Hairston was named AMCC Player of the Week on Monday after recording two double-doubles last week. Hairston averages 16 points per game and 10 rebounds on the seaosn. Sophomore G/F Makayla Abram just netted 32 points against Pitt-Greensburg earlier this week, her highest of the season. The sophomore averages just under 15 points per game, and seven rebounds. Senior G Danajah Sanders is also not one to be forgotten about. Sanders hits about 16 points per game and averages three assists and two steals. The senior also has one of the highest amounts of minutes played per game with just under 29 per game. La Roche as a team in conference play has been averaging 77 points per game and only allowing their opponent 52. The team also snags 45 rebounds per game. *

The Lions' only conference loss was the overtime loss to the Redhawks on January 7. Behrend has not lost at home since the third game of the season. The Lions have won seven consecutive contests, recently defeating Hilbert 99-38 on Wednesday. The Behrend defense held the Hawks to the lowest offensive output this season with 38 points.  Offensively, the Lions fell short of the century mark while shooting season-high 57.7 percent from the field. Freshman G Morgan Altavilla and junior F Rachel Kaulis each scored a game-high 16 points. Kaulis' 16 points and seven field goals marked new career highs in each category. Sophomore G Rachel Majewski, Altavilla and freshman G Madilyn Boyer are among the top five in scoring in the AMCC.  Majewski continues to pace the league with 19.6 points per game. She has scored 663 points in 46 games played over her career.
