BEHREND WOMEN FALL TO CARNEGIE MELLON IN ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Fourth-seeded Carnegie Mellon University won the 2022 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Basketball Championship, posting an 80-60 win over second-seeded Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon.

The Tartans won their third ECAC title and first since 2017. Carnegie Mellon shot 55.6 percent from the floor to halt the Lions from claiming their third ECAC Championship. In addition to shooting from the floor, the Tartans went 14-for-15 from the free-throw line. 

Caitlyn Clendenin led all scorers with 19 points to earn MVP honors for Carnegie Mellon, ass she was one of five players with double-digit scoring . 

Penn State Behrend's Alanna Dibble and Kara Haslett were named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team. Haslett and Rachel Majewski each led Behrend with 12 points apiece, while Brianna Dean added eight points and five rebounds. 

The Tartans had a nine-point lead after the first quarter and took the double-digit advantage headed into the locker rooms at 45-29.

Behrend concludes the season with a 21-6 overall record
