The Penn State Altoona (8-8, 6-4 AMCC) women's basketball team travels to Cresson, PA on Wednesday afternoon to take on Mount Aloysius College (5-12, 5-5 AMCC) in the AMCC Game of the Week.

The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team finds themselves in a tie for 5th place over halfway through their conference slate behind first year coach Brian Giesler and senior Breana Kendrick. Kendrick is averaging 16.5 points per game which is the third highest in the conference. Last Wednesday Kendrick became the 6th player in program history to break the 1,000 point barrier.  Along with Kendrick, sophomore guard Machala Gibbons has led the Mounties at the point and Lea Sammarco has been the most efficient shooter. Gibbons averages 5.9 assists and 3.0 steals per game, leading the conference in both categories. Sammarco leads the conference in three pointers made (50), three point percentage (39.4%) and free throw percentage (100%).

Penn State Altoona brings its top-ranked offense to Cresson for a battle with nearby conference opponent Mount Aloysius. The Lady Lions are putting up a league-best 71.1 points per game, and they come into Wednesday night’s contest as winners of five of their past six games. Sophomore guard/forward Alexis Cannistraci is having a breakout season for Penn State Altoona, ranking second in the AMCC in scoring (17.1 points per game) and rebounding (9.8 rebounds per game) while posting eight double-doubles. Junior guard Finnley Christine is seventh in the conference in points per game (16.1), and she recently cracked the top 10 on Penn State Altoona women’s basketball’s all-time scoring list.
