Penn St. Altoona, the #2 seed and defending champion, will play
for the AMCC title on Sunday. The Lions will face local rival
Mount 'Aloysius College, who knocked off Pitt-Bradford,
9-3, in a rain-delayed elimination game Sunday
morning.
Day Two of the tournament saw a dramatic array of games unfold from
beginning to end. #3 Mount Aloysius College started the
excitement by holding off a 7th inning rally to send home #5
D'Youville College, 6-5. #6 La Roche College pulled off the
upset of the day, eliminating #1 seed and regular season champion
Penn St. Behrend, 6-4. That was followed by a back-and-forth
battle between Penn St. Altoona and Pitt-Bradford, with PSA
prevailing on a walk off single scoring RBI by Lily Glunt for a 5-4
final.
Two more elimination games remained, but only one would be played
due to the weather delay. Game 8 matched La Roche and Mount
Aloysius. A series of defensive errors by the Redhawks in the
sixth inning broke open a tight contest, with MAC building a 6 run
cushion before a late Redhawks rally to close out the game by a 9-5
margin.
