RIVERA-BERRIOS NAMED ECAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEARApril 21, 2017Penn State Altoona men's volleyball's sophomore libero Waldemar Rivera-Berrios was voted the ECAC's Division III South Region Defensive Player of the Year and was also selected a first team ECAC All-Star, while Penn State Behrend senior middle hitter Trenton Munk was also named to the first team.

ALTOONA'S BYERS CHOSEN ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEKApril 12, 2017Penn State Altoona senior outside hitter Jacob Byers picked up his third award of the week on Wednesday afternoon, when the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced that he was their Division III South Region Player of the Week in men's volleyball.

Jacob Byers, Penn St. Altoona, Men's VolleyballApril 10, 2017Byers had a big week to help the Lions go 2-1 in non-conference play. In a 3-0 win over Wilkes on Wednesday, he had nine kills, two digs, two solo blocks, and one block assist. In Saturday's 3-1 loss to #14 ranked Eastern Mennonite, he posted 18 kills, three digs, and three solo blocks. Later in the day, as his team defeated Stevenson 3-2, he had 16 kills, four digs, and one solo block. On the week, Jacob totaled 43 kills (3.58 kills per set), seven total blocks (0.58 blocks per set), and nine digs (0.75 digs per set), and he swung at a .329 clip. He also averaged 4.3 points per set for a total of 51.5 points.

Michael Podgorny, Hilbert College, Men's VolleyballApril 03, 2017Podgorny had a huge weeeknd in NEAC play, as he erupted for 15+ kills in all three matches played over the weekend. For the week, Podgorny averaged 5.0 kills per set and 2.54 digs per set. He also chipped in with two service aces and four total blocks. Podgorny ranks second in the AMCC with 3.68 kills per set on the season and is fourth with 2.11 digs per set.

Dan Downs, Penn State Altoona, Men's VolleyballMarch 27, 2017Downs had a strong weekend to help the Lions go 3-0 and clinch the 2017 AMCC Championship. In Friday's 3-0 win against Hilbert, he matched his season-high kills total with 12. In a 3-1 win over Medaille on Saturday, he again posted 12 kills to go along with six total blocks (two solo blocks, four block assists). In the Lions' 3-0 victory against D'Youville later in the day, he recorded six kills and three total blocks (one solo block, two block assists). On the week, Dan had 30 kills (3.00 kills per set), nine total blocks (0.90 blocks per set), and an attack percentage of .521.

Bradley Colditz, Penn State Altoona, Men's VolleyballMarch 20, 2017Colditz had another big week for the Lions to help his team go 3-0 in this weekend's NEAC Crossover matches. In a 3-2 win over Wells on Saturday, he tied his season-high kills total with 21 while adding nine digs and one block assist. In a 3-0 win over SUNY Polytechnic on Sunday, he put up 17 kills, four digs, and one solo block. Later in the day, during his team's 3-0 victory over Keuka, Colditz had 12 kills, eight digs, and one solo block. On the week, he had 50 kills (4.55 kills per set), 21 digs (1.91 digs per set), and 52.5 points (4.8 points per set).

Trenton Munk, Penn St. Behrend, Men's VolleyballMarch 13, 2017Munk hit .437 in four matches, recording 49 kills on 87 attempts with just 11 errors. The senior broke two records along the way, becoming the all-time leader in program history in kills and blocks. He also added 16 blocks and nine digs. He tallied 20 kills against Mt. St. Vincent and 13 against No. 4 Stevens.

Bradley Colditz, Penn State Altoona, Men's VolleyballMarch 06, 2017Colditz had a huge week in a trio of wins for the Lions. Against Thiel on Wednesday night, he posted 15 kills to go along with six digs and a block assist. In Saturday's win over Lancaster Bible, he had 16 kills and four digs. Later that day, he totaled 15 kills, two digs, and one block assist in a victory against Wilson. On the week, Colditz swung at a .356 clip while finishing with 46 kills (4.60 kills per set), 12 digs (1.20 digs per set), and 47.0 points (4.7 points per set).

Brandon Arentz, Penn State Altoona, Men's VolleyballFebruary 27, 2017Arentz had a pair of strong showings in two matches on Saturday. He helped Penn State Altoona to a 3-0 win over AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend with 15 kills and 12 digs. Later, he posted seven digs and four kills in a 3-0 loss to Southern Virginia. On the week, Arentz posted 19 kills (3.17 kills per set) and 19 digs (3.17 digs per set).

Michael Podgorny, Hilbert College, Men's VolleyballFebruary 20, 2017Podgorny led all Hawks in scoring this past weekend, averaging 4.67 kills per set and also added 25 digs for 2.78 digs per set. He currently sits third in the AMCC with 3.45 kills per set and second in digs per set at 2.38.

Pat Stroh, D'Youville College, Men's VolleyballFebruary 13, 2017Stroh had a dominant week for the Spartans as they went 2-2. Stroh had a total of 55 kills last week, including a season-high 24 against Sage on Saturday. He recorded his first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs in a 3-0 victory over Southern Vermont. He totaled 23 digs and nine service aces throughout the week, adding four total blocks. Stroh leads the team with 63 kills (fourth in AMCC) and 3.32 kills per set (third in the AMCC). He is second on the team in hitting percentage, digs per set and digs. He is also second on the team in service aces per set at 0.58, which is second in the AMCC and he is tied for fourth with 11 service aces.

ALTOONA'S RIVERA-BERRIOS AND ARENTZ GARNER ECAC WEEKLY AWARDSFebruary 08, 2017Two Penn State Altoona men's volleyball players earned weekly recognition from the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region on Wednesday afternoon, as sophomore libero Waldemar Rivera-Berrios was named the Defensive Player of the Week and freshman outside/opposite hitter Brandon Arentz was picked the Rookie of the Week.

Calvin Crosby, Medaille College, Men's VolleyballFebruary 06, 2017Crosby had a very good week for the Mavericks once again, as Medaille faced their toughest part of the 2017 season. At last weekend's Golden Flyer Invitational the Mavericks played four matches against four top-15 nationally ranked opponents. In those four matches Crosby was able to collect 54 kills and five service aces. His 4.15 kills per set earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team, while also adding 14 digs. Crosby had double-digit kills in all four matches, including 21 against No. 15 Rivier College.

Calvin Crosby, Medaille College, Men's VolleyballJanuary 30, 2017Crosby led Medaille with 21 kills last week, reaching double digits in both matches. Crosby had 10 kills against Stevens, who is currently ranked number three in the nation. He followed that up with 11 against another tough opponent in Ramapo. Crosby also added four assists and four blocks on the week.
