PENN ST. ALTOONA, PENN ST. BEHREND ADVANCE TO MEN'S TENNIS FINALS

#1 seed Penn State Altoona will take on #2 seed Penn State Behrend in the finals of the AMCC men's tennis championship on Sunday.

The Altoona Lions secured their spot in the title match by defeating #4 Pitt-Greensburg, 5-2Casey Hess (#3 singles, #2 doubles), Jake Irwin (#5 singles, #3 doubles) and Kirk Eichenlaub (#6 singles, #3 doubles) all won twice for the Lions.  UPG's Turner Price finished his undefeated AMCC singles career with a win at #1 singles as well as a victory at #1 doubles with partner Devin Summers.

In the second semifinal, #2 Penn St. Behrend avenged a 5-4 regular season loss to the Mavericks, edging Medaille 5-3.  #6 singles player Belden Tuttle clinched the win over Celso Juberias in a 3 set marathon, 3-6, 7-5, 11-9.  Tuttle also earned a team point at #2 doubles with Mason HarbaughMitchell May contributed a pair of points with wins at #2 singles and at #1 doubles (with Jonathon Laier). Medaille's Ben Tubbs was a double winner for the Mavs, with victories at #5 singles and with Juberias at #3 doubles.

Behrend defeated Altoona by the narrowest of margins in the regular season, taking a 5-4 decision.  Both programs have six conference titles to their credit, the last for Behrend was in 2012 while Altoona's last crown was in 2006.

The tournament winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Div. III tournament.
