IRVING, Texas – La Roche softball closed out its series against Dallas on Wednesday, falling to the Crusaders 12-1 in five innings.

The Redhawks had a chance in the top of the first, putting runners at first and second with no outs, but three straight outs followed to end the half inning.

Dallas would put a run on the board in the bottom of the first, as an RBI groundout made it 1-0.

La Roche had another chance in the second, leaving a runner at second stranded with one out, then in the third inning left runners stranded at second and third with one out.

The Crusaders then exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third, doing so by way of four RBI singles, an error and a fielder's choice.

Three more runs in the bottom of the fourth made it 12-0 in favor of Dallas after an RBI groundout, passed ball and the fifth RBI single of the game.

The lone run scored by the Redhawks came in the top of the fifth inning when Brandi Clyde drove in Maura Wade with an RBI single.

Maura Wade got the start and in 2.2 innings allowed seven runs, but only one run counted as earned. She gave up six hits, one walk and struck out one.

In relief, Kynnydy Lewis also only had one earned run against her, despite giving up a total of five. She would allow five hits and one walk to round out her line in 1.1 innings.

Offensively, La Roche had six hits, with Wade (2-for-2) and Emma Bizay (2-for-3) leading the way with four of the six.

The Redhawks get a day off and round out the Texas Trip with a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 15. La Roche will face Trinity with game one set to begin at 1 p.m. EST/12 p.m. CST.
