Behrend Men's Tennis Seek Third Straight AMCC Championship

ERIE, Pa. – The No. 1 Penn State Behrend men's tennis team will face the No. 4 Mt. Aloysius in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Westwood Racquet Club.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions enter the championship as the No. 1 seed
* Behrend was named the Co-AMCC Regular-Season Champions with Penn State Altoona
* The Lions earned the No. 1 seed on a tiebreaker based on the total number of match points won between the two tied teams
* Behrend defeated Altoona 6-4 and lost 5-4 to give them the tiebreaker, 10-8
* The Lions are looking to win their third straight championship
* Last season, Behrend registered a 5-0 win over Altoona to claim their eighth overall AMCC title
* The winner of the semifinals will advance to the championship match slated for Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
* During the regular season, Jonathon Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) posted a 9-5 overall record at No. 1 singles
* Laier also tallied a 5-1 conference mark in singles and joined Akash Sangha (Milton, Ontario/White Oaks) for a 5-0 No. 1 doubles record in the AMCC

* The Mounties are 2-15 overall and went 0-6 during the AMCC regular season
* Mt. Aloysius claimed the fourth seed for the tournament
* The Mounties dropped a pair of matches to the Lions last weekend
* Behrend posted 9-0 and 8-0 victories
* Zachary Johnson has a conference win at No. 2 singles
