ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Alfred on Wednesday. The Lions took game one 5-2, before falling 5-2 in game two.  

Game One: Penn State Behrend 5, Alfred 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (16-7), Alfred (11-10)

Key Moments: 

* The Lions scored all their runs in the first inning
* Behrend registered three doubles in its five hits to come out strong to start
* There were seven doubles in game one, four by the Behrend Lions including one by Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway)
* Petitte went 3-for-3 with two RBIS
* In the bottom of the first, Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) reached on an error before McNany and Petitte each smacked a double
* Petitte's double drove in Jones and McNancy, before scoring on a single by Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Grove City)
* Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) ripped her first double of the season to move Williams to third
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) singled to send home Williams and Curcio for the quick 5-0 lead
* Tingley pitched the first five innings for the win, striking out two, while Julia Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) registered her second save in relief

Game Two:  Alfred 5, Penn State Behrend 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (16-8), Alfred (12-10)   
 
Key Moments: 

* The Saxons snapped the Lions nine-game winning streak in game two
* Alfred held the Lions scoreless from the first inning of the first game until the fourth inning of the second game
* The Saxons scored four of the five runs in the second inning
* J. Jones recorded the loss, pitching the first two innings and giving up four hits and four earned runs
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) threw the next five innings, striking out two and giving up five hits and one earned run
* Petitte kept her bat hot from game one, registering a triple and a double
* Behrend tallied eight hits and stranded seven for two runs
* Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) registered two RBIs, knocking in the two runs in the fourth and the sixth inning
