AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 7-13

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's basketball and swimming and diving for the period running from January 7-13, 2019.

Women's Swimming: Alfred State SO Kathryn Lewis led the Pioneers to a first place finish at the Erie CC Invitational with three individual first place finishes and was also part of a winning relay team. Lewis won the 1650 free in 20:49.96, the 100 free in 1:07.18, and the 400 free in 5:04.87. She was also part of the winning 400 free relay team.

Men's Swimming: Pitt-Bradford FR Chris Troll earned a pair of individual wins in the tri-meet at Buffalo State, earning the second victory of the day for Pitt-Bradford, finishing the men's 100-breaststroke in 1:07.23, edging out a competitive opponent that finished just 0.17 seconds behind. Troll's second victory of the day came in the men's 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:29.90, the fastest he's swam the event all season.

Women's Basketball: D'Youville G Danielle Hore continued her standout rookie season with the Spartans this past week, helping the women to a 2-0 week in conference play. On Wednesday against Penn State-Behrend, Hore posted a then career-high 24 points on 8-12 shooting and 7-7 from the free throw line in the 80-65 victory. She added eight steals, seven rebounds, and five assists in the win. To follow up on Saturday at Mount Aloysius, Hore topped her career-high in scoring with 26 points in the 70-66 overtime win against the Mounties. Playing all 45 minutes, Danielle tied a career-high 17 boards with two assists and two steals. For the week, Hore averaged 25.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 5.0 steals, and 3.5 assists per game. She is currently fourth in the conference in scoring (16.5 PPG), second in rebounding (12.0 RPG), third in assists (5.7 APG), and first in steals (3.1 SPG). In 13 games played, Hore has scored double-figures in every game of her career. 

Men's Basketball: PS-Altoona G Jalen Archie-Davis had a huge week for the Lions, helping his team go 2-0 in AMCC play. In Wednesday night's win over Pitt-Greensburg, he scored a career-high 23 points, dished out a season-high nine assists, and added five rebounds, two steals, and a block. Archie-Davis scored the game-winning basket with one second left on the clock in Saturday's victory over Hilbert, finishing the game with 19 points, six assists, six rebounds, and a steal. On the week, he averaged 21.0 points per game while shooting 51.9% from the field, and he also averaged 7.5 assists per game (including a 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio), 5.5 rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game.
