AMCC ALL-SPORTSMANSHIP TEAM NAMED IN HONOR OF DONNA LEDWIN

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference has voted to name the conference All-Sportsmanship Team in honor of outgoing commissioner Donna Ledwin.

Ledwin, who is retiring after spending 23 years as the commissioner of the AMCC, made sportsmanship, inclusion, and acceptance a focal point of what the conference represents. Renaming the sportsmanship team The Donna Ledwin All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes her for years to come in a way that represents who she is and what she has done for the AMCC. 

"This is a tremendous honor, not just to have my name associated with such a prestigious award, but also because it reflects the faith that the leadership of the AMCC have shown in me to carry out these ideals," said Ledwin.  "Sportsmanship and inclusion are two of the highest values of the Division III athletics experience.  The fact that the AMCC has woven them into the fabric of our identity, and to connect me with that philosophical priority, is beyond gratifying."

All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team. These individuals are selected by vote of their teammates. 

The student-athlete selected must consistently demonstrate a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and fans. He/She must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams’ sporting events.

"Donna has given so much of her professional career to this conference, I think it is wonderful that we can honor her," stated Pitt-Bradford Senior Woman Administrator Tina Phillips. "It is a way to create a lasting legacy, ensuring her contributions are remembered and recognized for years to come."
