AMCC ALL IN WITH GAMEDAY THE D3 WAY TRAINING

Eleven AMCC members participated in the NCAA Div. III GameDay the D3 Way staff training this past spring, and everyone will be on board for the full program this fall.

The most recent and final training was held at Penn State Altoona on Monday. Sixteen athletic department staff members from PSA, Mount Aloysius College and Pitt-Greensburg.

"Our Presidents and Chancellors are 100% committed to promoting good sportsmanship at all conference events, and our best chance for success is getting everyone on the same page with training," said AMCC Commissioner Donna Ledwin.  "When we agree to abide by the common goal of creating a game day environment that is safe, respectful and fun for everyone, we will all be winners."

Both Ledwin and Medaille College Associate Athletic Director Laura Edholm attended training designed by the Disney Institute that was offered to every Division III conference.  The AMCC took it a step further with the help of a working group that included Ledwin, Edholm, Penn St. Behrend SID Jill Yamma and D'Youville College AD Brian Cavanuagh.  The group created the "Fun, Safe, Respectful" slogan that is now used in pre-game announcements, game programs, customized signage, and laptop stickers that are distributed to fans.  They plan to add tattoos to the giveaways in 2019-20.

Ledwin will be part of an advanced training session next month in Orlando.  The participants will assist the Disney trainers with ideas on how to improve and expand the program and will be available to conduct additional campus trainings as needed throughout the year.
