It will be #1 Penn St. Behrend vs. #3 Pitt-Bradford in the finals of the AMCC women's volleyball title match on Sunday.
If it sounds like deja vu--it is.
These two teams met in the in the 2018 championship, and the Panthers upset the top seeded Lions, 3-2 to earn the AMCC crown.
Host Behrend found their way to the finals first, making short work of #4 Penn St. Altoona, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-21). The Lions got strong efforts from Kristin Reiland (16 kills, 3 blocks), Alex Parra (10 kills, 5 block assists) and Madison Clapper (21 digs). PSA's leaders included Lydia Mock (7 kills, 10 digs) and Jenna Bauer (5 kills, 11 digs).
In the second semifinal, the Panthers faced #2 Mount Aloysius College. Despite the edge in seeding, the Mounties could not hold back the Bradford contingent, falling in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-10). Emily Cleveland paced the Panthers with 17 kills and an eye-popping .533 kills percentage, while Tabitha Walker dished 24 assists and 8 digs. The Mounties' Machala Gibbons recorded 9 kills and 20 digs while teammate Emma Pevarnik contributed 28 assists and 9 digs.
The finals will be played at 1pm at the Behrend Junker Center. The winner will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
