  • FRANCISCAN VOLLEYBALL HONORED BY SIDEOUT FOUNDATION

    The Franciscan University volleyball team hosted a successful Dig Pink Rally this past season and was once again honored by the Sideout Foundation for its fundraising efforts. During the 2017 Dig Pink Rally, the Lady Barons raised $2,624.80, surpassing last year's total by almost $400.

    Saunders tallied 101 assists, 24 digs, 11 kills and five aces over three matches to help the Behrend women's volleyball team capture their fourth AMCC title on Sunday. She had a double-double with 46 assists and 12 digs in the championship match against La Roche. Saunders was also named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team.

    The #4 La Roche College women's volleyball team advanced to their first-ever AMCC Tournament Championship match after coming back to defeat #1 Penn State Altoona 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon.
  • PENN STATE ALTOONA EARNS TOP SEED, HOSTING RIGHTS FOR WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

    In a tight race all season long for the AMCC women's volleyball regular season title, Penn State Altoona and Pitt-Bradford each finished the regular season with conference-best 7-2 records. With the Lady Lions prevailing 3-2 over the Panthers head-to-head on September 23, Penn State Altoona was crowned the regular season champion and thus earned the top seed and hosting rights for the conference tournament.

    Fisher led the team to a huge victory over La Roche which helped to secure a playoff spot in the AMCC postseason tournament. Fisher recorded 21 kills in one set, which was the highest she has had all season. For the week, Fisher averaged 4.83 kills per set, 1.33 blocks per set, while swinging at a .311 clip. She leads in the AMCC in hitting percentage and is second in kills and kils per set.

    As we enter the final day of regular season play, the AMCC women's volleyball season once again proves to be a tight race. With Penn State Altoona and Pitt-Bradford tied at the top with 6-2 records, Mount Aloysius, Penn State Behrend, La Roche, and Franciscan are all tied with 5-3 records. Playoff seedings are up in the air as the Mounties and Lions battle it out on Saturday to try and climb the postseason rankings.

    Schneider had another impressive week for the Spartans as they added another conference win on Tuesday evening. Megan recorded 13 kills against Medaille on Tuesday evening as D'Youville defeated the Mavericks 3-1. Schneider added a team high 20 digs to record a double-double. On Friday against the University of Rochester, Megan recorded yet another double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. For the week, Schneider averaged 3.71 kills per set and 4.29 digs per set.

  • D'YOUVILLE VOLLEYBALL DIGS PINK FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

    For the last four years, the D’Youville College women’s volleyball team has put on their Dig Pink Game, assisting in raising funds for breast cancer research. On Wednesday, October 11, the women once again contributed to raising awareness for an extremely worthy cause.

    Nath averaged 4.27 kills, 0.82 blocks, and 2.55 digs per set in a 2-1 week for the Redhawks. Nath also added five service aces and a hit at a .378 clip. She registered 22 kills in just three sets in a sweep of then-undefeated Penn State Altoona on Wednesday in the AMCC Game of the Week. She then contributed 25 kills in the Redhawks' quadmatch on Saturday.

    Saunders averaged 8.13 assists per set and helped the Lions captured the Lycoming Tournament in a 5-0 week. She was named to the Lycoming All-Tournament Team for recording 116 assists, 23 kill and 15 digs.

    This week's AMCC women's volleyball game of the week features two of the hottest teams in the conference as of late. Mount Aloysius College (10-9, 2-1 AMCC) has won eight of their past nine games, while Penn State Altoona (8-8, 4-0 AMCC) are winners of six straight and undefeated in conference play.

    Diller had a huge week to help the Lady Lions go 4-0, including grabbing a pair of big AMCC victories. In Wednesday night's 3-2 win at AMCC opponent Franciscan, she had 19 kills, 10 digs, and three total blocks. In Friday evening's 3-0 sweep of non-conference opponent Hollins, she finished with 13 kills and 15 digs. On Saturday, she had a career-high 23 kills to go along with 16 digs and five total blocks in a big 3-2 win over AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend. Later in the day on Saturday, she totaled 13 kill and a career-high 18 digs in a 3-1 win against non-conference opponent Wilkes. For the week, Diller totaled 68 kills (4.00 kills per set), 59 digs (3.47 digs per set), and eight total blocks (three solo, five assist, 0.47 blocks per set), and she also chipped in 16 set assists (0.94 assists per set). Lauren tallied 74.5 points for an average of 4.4 points per set.

    Bristol had a big week to help her team go 2-1, including starting the AMCC schedule out with two wins in two matches. In Wednesday's loss at Penn State Harrisburg, she had seven kills, three aces, and one block assist. In Saturday's 3-2 win over AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford, she tallied 14 kills, 11 digs, one ace, and one block assist. Later that day in her team's 3-2 victory against AMCC foe D'Youville, she posted 20 kills and 26 digs. On the week, Bristol totaled 41 kills (3.15 kills per set/3.4 in conference play), 37 digs (2.85 digs per set/3.7 in conference play), four aces (0.31 aces per set), and two block assists (0.15 blocks per set). She also swung at a .286 clip (.318 in conference play) and finished the week with 46.0 points (3.5 points per set).
  • McKenna Cartonia, D'Youville College, Women's Volleyball

    Cartonia played a very big role for the Spartans this week as they went 2-1 overall and head into conference play with a winning record. Over the three games, Cartonia averaged 2.11 digs, 1.11 kills per set, and 5.44 assists per set. Her totals included seven service aces, one block, and 49 assists, while swinging at a .714 clip. She recorded a double-double in a 3-0 win over Cazenovia with 15 assists and 12 digs, adding five services aces. Against Medaille on Saturday, Cartonia had a season-high 24 assists in the 3-0 victory. Currently, McKenna leads the team with 137 assists, 15 service aces, and is third with 62 digs.

    Fisher led the Mounties last week with a .355 hitting percentage, 46 kills (3.54 kills per set), and five total blocks for an average of 3.8 points per set. Fisher ranks in the top two in the AMCC in kills per set (2.96), total kills (77) and hitting percentage (.327).
