    Penn State Altoona junior Grace Dangelo was named the AMCC Women's Swimmer of the Year after placing first in three events at the championships, marking the second time in her career that Dangelo has received the honor.

    The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team won their 12th overall AMCC Championship on Saturday and finished second overall in the AMCC Empire Meet held at the Webster Aquatic Center.

    With day two of the 2022 Allegheny Empire Swimming & Diving Championships in the books, the Alfred State College men hold on to their first place spot, while the Alfred State women are now edging Penn State Behrend by one point for the AMCC lead.

    Streeter won the one-meter dive with a score of 139.28 in the Alfred State women's swimming and diving 133-57 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.

    Snayczuk won three events, broke a program record and set three pool records in the Alfred State women's swimming and diving 133-57 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday at the Voller Athletic Center. Snayczuk set a program record and broke the pool record in the 50-yard free with a time of 25.20. She also set a pool record in the 100-yard free with a time of 56.27 and was the anchor for the of the winning 400-yard medley relay which included Alyssa James, Mikaela Snayczuk and Mackenzie Gillette. The relay won in a time of 4:21.46.
  • SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS CHOSEN TO SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA TEAMS

    The Penn State Behrend men's and women's swimming and diving teams, along with the Alfred State College women's team, have been chosen to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the fall 2021 semester.

    Holl had two individual first place finishes and was part of a relay first place in the Lions' 124-47 win over AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford on Friday night. She recorded a first place finish in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:10.05, and she later came in first in the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 1:09.08. The freshman was also part of the group that took first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a combined time of 2:09.53.

    Miller won the 1m diving event in the tri-meet against Nazareth and Utica, scoring a 176.5 and and 158.85.

    Dangelo had three individual first places for the Lions in their dual meet win over AMCC opponent Wells on Saturday, including one that set a new team record. The junior started off with a first place finish in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 19:37.22 to establish a new team record in that swim. She also recorded first place finishes in the 100 Yard Backstroke, in which she posted a time of 1:05.68, and the 100 Yard Breaststroke, during which she finished in 1:16.16

    Sank tallied a score of 240.10 on the one-meter board for fourth place at the Oberlin Invite. Her score places her on the program's Top 10 list.
  • Avery Heisey, Penn State Altoona, Women's Swimming

    Heisey had a hand in setting four new Penn State Altoona women's swimming team records during last week's three-day Oberlin Invitational. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, the junior set a new team record of 54.08 to place third while competing in the 'A' final of that swim. She also helped establish three new team records in relay events. In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, Heisey and her teammates posted a total time of 1:43.29 to take fourth place and set a new program record. In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, she was part of the group that set a new school record time of 4:21.56 and placed eighth. Heisey's third relay record came in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which she combined with her teammates to clock in at 3:47.03 to place fifth.

    DeWinde grabbed a first place finish in the 200 yd. freestyle with a time of 2:36.06 against Wells College. DeWinde also finished second in the 100 yd. freestyle with a time of 1:12.12, and the 50 yd. freestyle with a time of 32.09.

  • Alyssa James, Alfred State College, Women's Swimming

    James won the 100 back (1:06.88), the 200 back (2:26.71), and the 500 free (5:48.94). She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team that finished in 2:00.28. James helped lead the Pioneers to victories over Wells and Franciscan on Saturday.

    Sank won both diving events on Saturday, posting her season-best scores on the one-meter board (174.50) and on the three-meter board (151.30).

    Heisey had two individual first place finishes and was part of one relay first place during the Lions' split in a tri-meet with Franciscan and DII opponent Alderson Broaddus. She won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.29, and she also prevailed in the 100 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 57.29. Avery also combined with her teammates to win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a total time of 1:48.29.

    Nick Beach has gone from being the top diver in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) for back-to-back years to coaching some of the top divers in the conference at Alfred State College.

    Puglia tallied a pair of individual wins on Saturday at Westminster. She recorded her first win in the 200 free (2:03.94) and then touched first in the 500 free (5:38.20), while missing first in the 100 free by .04 seconds.

    Streeter won the 1m diving competition in both of the first two meets. She scored 148.75 vs. Buffalo State and 131.70 vs. Fredonia.

    Snayczuk has won all six individual events that she has swam in a pair of Alfred State victories to start the season. Snayczuk won the 100 breast in 1:12.99, the 200 fly in 2:50.57, and the 100 fly in 1:08.13 vs. Buffalo State. Againt Fredonia, Snayczuk won the the 200 IM (2:23.68), the 100 fly (1:07.16), and the 100 breast (1:12.57)
