BEHREND WOMEN EARN TOP SEED AS CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF SATURDAY

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team went undefeated in conference play and clinched the top seed for the upcoming AMCC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Lions finished the regular season 8-0 in AMCC action and secured home field advantage throughout the conference playoffs. First round games kick off this Saturday when #3 Mount Aloysius College hosts #6 Medaille College and #5 La Roche University will travel to #4 Penn State Altoona. #1 Penn State Behrend and #2 Pitt-Greensburg will each receive first round byes. 

The top seeded Lions are looking for their 15th conference title. Behrend is led offensively by senior F Brenna McGuire and freshman F Trinity Prestash, as each are tied for fourth in the conference with 12 a piece. Senior D Ava Michael ranks second with eight assists, while junior M Karla Ochoa is tied for third in the conference with seven helpers. Senior GK Madi Jones has been solid between the pipes all season, as sh leads the conference with an .867 save percentage, while surrending only two goals this season and carrying a 0.25 goals-against-average. 

#2 Pitt-Greensburg (7-1) has lethal offense, as three different Bobcats fill the top three scoring spots in the AMCC. The offensive attack is led by senior M Tiffany Michalek, who has recorded an AMCC-best 21 goals, while she also sits atop conference rankings with nine assists. Freshman M/F Emily Bonelli ranks second with 14 goals, while junior M/F Ashely Lucas is third with 13. Senior GK Lauren Yoder ranks second with an .846 save percentage, six goals against, and a 0.43 goals-against-average. 

#3 Mount Aloysius carries a 6-2 record heading into the championship tournament. Leading the Mounties on offense is junior F Kourtney Walls with 11 goals and seven assists, ranking in the AMCC's top five in both categories. Junior GK Lauren Davey ranks fourth with an .840 save percentage and a 1.26 goals-against-average.

With a 5-3 record in conference play, Penn State Altoona has earned the #4 seed. Sophomore M/F Mallorie Smith leads the Lions with nine goals this season, while also tying for the top spot in the conference with seven assists. Senior M/F Sadie McConnell has recorded six goals and six assists. Freshman goalkeeper Adeline Baustert has made 62 saves with a .705 save percentage. 

La Roche enters the tournament as the #5 seed with a 3-4-1 conference record. Senior forward Alondra Gonzalez leads the Redhawk attack with eight goals, while sophomore midfielder Alexis Nudds has six. Freshman goalkeeper Bella Costanzo has recorded 72 saves and carries a .679 save percentage.  

Rounding out the field is #6 Medaille with a 2-4-1 record in league play. Sophomore M Yulisa Tosado-Munoz leds the Mavericks with five goals while senior F Taylor Hollock has added two goals and three assists on the year. Freshman GK Jessica Tyrrell leads the conference with 170 saves this season.

First round games will be played on Saturday, October 30, with the top two seeds receiving byes. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, November 3, with the championship game on Saturday, November 6.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with the national championship to be played at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro on December 3-4.
