#3 MT. ALOYSIUS, #4 PENN ST. ALTOONA ADVANCE TO WOMEN'S SOCCER SEMIFINALS

#3 Mount Aloysius College and #4 Penn State Altoona each picked up women's soccer first round victories to advance to the AMCC semifinals to be played on Wednesday, November 3. Mount Aloysius defeated Medaille College 7-1, while Penn State Altoona earned the 3-2 OT victory against La Roche University.

Penn State Altoona 3, La Roche 2 (OT)
Penn State Altoona and La Roche ended the first half knotted at 0 before the scoring picked up in the second half. La Roche opened the scoring at the 54:49 mark when Alexandra Mecchia connected on an unassisted 25 yard shot that went through the Altoona's keepers hand to put the Redhawks on the board. Lion Sadie McConnell evened the score a 1-all at the 73:19 mark, as she took the assist from Sarah Huston. Just three minutes later, at 76:38, the Redhawks once again took the lead when Alondra Gonzalez took a long shot from the far sideline, finding the top right corner of the net to make it 2-1 La Roche. Penn State Altoona's Mallorie Smith then took the game into her own hands as she tied the game at the 81:46 mark with a shot outside the box that was deflected into the top right corner of the net, and eventually send the game into overtime. Four minutes into the overtime period, Smith got the ball from Huston, scoring in the bottom left corner of the net to set the final score and send the Lions to the AMCC women's soccer semifinals. 

Mount Aloysius 7, Medaille 1
It was a strong start for the Mounties, as Jasmine Hinton scored their first goal only ten minutes in. The Mounties scored back-to-back 27:58 in, then 29:17 in with another goal by Hinton and then one by Jordan Mason. Mason would score one more before the half at 33:52. The Mavericks went into halftime down 0-4. The Mounties struck first again in the second half when Hinton scored again at 57:26. At 62:55, Medaille's Courtney Kline netted the only goal for the Mavs. The Mounties would go on to score two more goals, one by Katie Figinski and the final by Katie Miller

The AMCC Semifinals will take place on Wednesday, November 3. #4 Penn State Altoona will play at #1 Penn State Behrend at 3:30pm, while #2 Pitt-Greensburg will host #3 Mount Aloysius at 2:00pm.
 
The winners of Wednesdays games will square off on Saturday, November 6 for the AMCC Championship.
