The AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week features two of the final three remaining undefeated teams in conference play as 3-0 Penn State Behrend travels to 3-0 Penn State Altoona on Wednesday evening.
The Behrend Lions enter the second half of the season with a 3-0 conference mark and a 7-5 overall record. Behrend went 1-1 over the break, reaching the century mark in points with a 107-66 victory at Mt. Aloysius on Saturday. For the second time this season, the Lions had all five starters with double-digit points to defeat the Mounties. Last week, Rachel Majewski averaged 18.5 points and 3.0 rebounds. She had a team-best 22 points at W&J. The senior guard is 87 points away from becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history. She enters with 1,471 points. Majewski is fourth in the conference in scoring with 15.3 points, followed by Morgan Altavilla in fifth (14.8 ppg). Behrend paces the AMCC in points and rebounds per game, averaging 75.3 points and pulling down 42.3 rebounds.
Penn State Altoona women’s basketball enters Wednesday night’s home game against Penn State Behrend with a 3-0 record in the AMCC, having earned road victories over Mount Aloysius, Pitt-Greensburg, and Hilbert. Junior forward Avana Sayles leads the conference in total points (193) and field goals made (84) while ranking second in points per game (16.1) and total rebounds (104), and junior guard/forward Jaidyn McCracken is fourth in the league in three-pointers made (21), eighth in assists (29), and 14th in points per game (11.2). Meanwhile, sophomore forward Raniyah Green is sixth in the AMCC in rebounds per game (8.1) and junior guard Jess Burns is fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7). Freshman guard Madison Rusnica and senior guard Jordan Bisignani have found success from beyond the arc, as Rusnica leads the AMCC in three-point percentage (50.0) and Bisignani ranks eighth (34.8).
