PENN STATE BEHREND WOMEN ADVANCE TO ECAC QUARTERFINAL

The Penn State Behrend (17-10) women's basketball team took down Westminster College (20-8) 69-61 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) play-in game on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinal round. The Lions will travel to No. 1 Cabrini University on Friday at 12 p.m.

Behrend will advance to the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Championship with a 69-61 win over the Titans for the first time since 2012. The Lions had a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Westminster 19-9 to secure the win. Brianna Dean scored 10 of her career-high 11 points in the fourth quarter, as she shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the field in the fourth as well as 4-for-5 from the free throw line. The Titans took a 50-46 lead near the end of the third quarter after being down five heading into the period. Behrend was down two to start the fourth period before going on a 19-9 run to end the game. Sophomore guard Caitlin Carnuche paced the Lions with 22 points, while junior Megan Lewis chipped in a career-high six points on two three-pointers. 

The Lions will travel to No. 1 Cabrini on Friday to take on the Cavaliers in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC tournament.
