HILBERT'S GAWLAK HEADLINES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

Hilbert College senior guard Emily Gawlak has been named the AMCC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Gawlak led the AMCC in scoring with 20.8 points per game, while recording 415 total points. She also finished second in the AMCC in steals per game, and overall steals, while only averaging 1.1 fouls per game in conference play. Gawlak hit several career milestones this season, as she scored her 1,000th career point on 11/26/19. She became the Hilbert College all-time leading scorer on 2/12/2020 by topping 1,275 points. The senior guard scored a career high of 40 points on 2/19/2020, was a three-time AMCC Player of the week and was also recognized on the D3Hoops National Team of the Week on 2/25/2020.

La Roche University junior guard Ayanna Mazyck has earned AMCC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Mazyck was one of the best on-ball defenders in the conference this season. She averaged an AMCC-best 2.5 steals per game and recorded a single game conference season-high eight steals against Penn St. Altoona on November 26th. Mazyck recorded three or more steals in 13 games this season. 

D'Youville College freshman guard Sara Pfeiffer is the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Pfeiffer had a huge impact on the Spartans' squad since joining them for the spring semester, averaging 19.4 points per game in her 14 games. She scored a team season-high of 34 points in just her third game where she broke the program record with 10 made three pointers. Overall, Pfeiffer scored double-figures in 13 of 14 games with four of those games going over 20 points and two going over 30. In nine games, Pfeiffer showed off her shooting prowess by making three or more three pointers. The rookie has also been an impressive rebounder with 4.7 rebounds per game and 2.4 steals per game. 

Coach of the Year honors goes to Pitt-Greensburg head coach Hayley Schaetzle. Schaetzle led the Bobcats to a 14-6 record in conference play and the No. 4 seed in the AMCC tournament. This was the first time the Pitt-Greensburg women made the postseason tournament since the 2105-16 season, while also hosting a tournament game for the first time since 2013-14. Just a season ago, the Bobcats finished tied for eighth place out of 10 teams in conference standings with a 7-11 record in the AMCC.
