Penn State Altoona women’s basketball (11-8, 9-4 AMCC) will look for the season sweep of conference opponent Hilbert College (15-4, 10-2 AMCC) on Saturday, February 2, when the Lady Lions travel to Hamburg, N.Y. for the AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week.

Penn State Altoona enters Saturday’s game as winners of eight of its previous nine games. The team has been getting consistently strong performances from all five of its regular starters. Sophomore guard/forward Alexis Cannistraci comes into Saturday ranked second in the AMCC in scoring (17.1 points per game) and rebounding (9.9 rebounds per game), and she has recorded a team-best 10 double-doubles this season. Junior guard Finnley Christine is quickly rising in the team’s all-time scoring list with 888 career points scored, and she is currently fourth in the AMCC in points per game (16.0). Junior guards Kaley Strittmatter and Paige Burk are adding 10.7 and 9.7 points per game, respectively, while freshman guard Jessica Stevens is scoring 9.2 points per game.

The Hawks (10-2) are eager to reverse fortunes this weekend after they suffered an 88-75 road loss at Penn State Altoona January 12.  But they will be a little rusty this Saturday when they return to action for the first time in seven days thanks to sub-zero temperatures and blizzard conditions that swamped western New York since Tuesday. Junior G Taylor Corts continues to pace the Hawks with 15.9 points per game. Corts can score from anywhere on the floor although she has found her shooting touch beyond the arc, having just become the Hilbert all-time leader in 3-point field goals made after only 65 career games. Junior F Ashley Repine (13 ppg/8 rpg) has earned four double doubles in the Hawks' last six games and fellow forward, 6'2 Katelyn Proy, leads Division III in Total Blocks (65) while chipping in 10 points, nine rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game. Junior Emily Gawlak leads the AMCC in minutes per game (37.8) while swiping 2.1 steals and scoring 11.8 points.  Junior G Demi Battin leads the Hawks with 63 assists and is one steal behind Gawlak (37) in addition to  adding almost six points a game.
