PITT-GREENSBURG WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NAMED TO WBCA ACADEMIC TOP-25 TEAM HONOR ROLL

The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team was honored for its dedication in the classroom, earning a spot on the 2017-18 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. Pitt-Greensburg earned the award for a second-straight season as well as for the second time in school history. Pitt-Greensburg, along with Pitt-Bradford (2013-14), are the lone representatives from the AMCC to appear on the list, since the WBCA began compiling the polls (1994-95).

"I could not be more proud of this group," remarked head coach Hayley Schaetzle. "With more freshmen than returners on our 2017-18 roster, these young women proved they are willing to put the work in both on and off the court to position themselves for future success."

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2017-18 season is the 23rd in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

Pitt-Greensburg was the sole AMCC representative to appear in the top 25 and just one of three Division III institutions from Pennsylvania to earn the award. Emerson College took the top spot in the Division III Honor Roll with a team GPA of 3.712.

The WBCA academic award is the second recognition for Pitt-Greensburg this year. Earlier this season, the Bobcats posted the highest GPA among all women's basketball teams in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, earning the Team Peak Performer Award. This is the second-straight season Pitt-Greensburg was named a Peak Performer.
