AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: MOUNT ALOYSIUS @ HILBERT

AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week:
Mount Aloysius College @ Hilbert College
Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m.

The AMCC women's basketball game of the week features two teams battling it out for the final conference playoff spot. As we enter the final week of regular season play, there are three teams tied for fourth place as Hilbert College, Mount Aloysius College, and Penn State Behrend all have identical 8-9 conference marks. Those three teams, along with Pitt-Greensburg (7-10), are battling it out for seeds 4 through 6. This is a must-win game, as one team will not advance to the conference playoffs.  With the Mounties traveling to Hilbert this Saturday, the match-up could prove to be pivotal on who advances and whose season will end.

The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team enters the final week of AMCC regular season play looking to clinch their fifth playoff berth in the last six seasons. On Saturday in the regular season finale, the Mounties will be looking to avenge a 68-59 defeat at the hands of Hilbert back on January 14th. Mount Aloysius has been paced by the scoring of freshman forward Jessa Wright, who is averaging 13.9 points per game and is second in the conference with 57 three-point shots made. Wright also leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game and 52 total steals. Sophomore guard Breana Kendrick also averages in double figures for the Mounties at 12.1 points per game, while junior forward Katie Bracken has been solid all-around averaging eight points and 5.3 rebounds while leading Mount Aloysius with 62 assists and 16 blocks on the season. As a team, the Mounties have been dangerous behind the arc as they rank first in the conference with 208 three-point shots made.

The Hawks are excited to be celebrating their five seniors’ careers when they host Mount Aloysius in the AMCC Game of the Week.  The women’s team is on the verge of earning their first post-season play-off appearance in 11 years thanks to the efforts of multiple working parts coming together this season.  In her final season, senior guard Kelsi Ebert is ranked third in the AMCC in steals and fourth in assists, while she leads the Hawks in scoring (16.4).  In only three seasons, she became the program’s all-time steals leader (147) and broke the single season steals record earlier this year.  Freshman Taylor Corts chips in 11 points per game and averages 5.7 rebounds from the guard spot.  Senior forward Shannon Rogers continues to battle in the paint scoring 9.2 points and grabbing just under eight rebounds per contest.  The Hawks have gotten big shots from the perimeter during the season from senior Emily Speidel and freshman Emily Gawlak while sophomore Katelyn Proy and freshman Ashley Repine make things difficult for opponents getting to the rim.

Hilbert won the first meeting between the two teams, earning a 68-59 over the Mounties back in January.
