AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

The AMCC is embarking on its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 academic year. Since 1997 there have been many outstanding teams and individual student-athletes who have risen to the top of their sports.  We are honored to recognize and highlight some of those accomplishments throughout this anniversary year.

La Roche College, winners of the past five AMCC championship titles, has also produced some impressive individual talent in recent years. Jessica Pitts picked up back-to-back Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013. Pitts was named to the ECAC South All-Stars second team.  She led the Redhawks to their third consecutive AMCC title and NCAA tournament bid in 2013.  She finished her senior season ranked first in the AMCC in rebounds per game (10.8), field goal percentage (.532), assists per game (5.4), steals per game (3.6), assist/turnover ratio (1.9), and defensive rebounds per game (8.0), while contributing 15.4 points per game. Additionally, current Redhawk senior Danasha Harris is the reigning three-time AMCC Defensive Player of the Year, picking up the honor in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Harris has led the league in steals in each of her three years of action and has also ranked near the top in rebounds each year.

Medaille College's Amanda Baker is the only women's basketball player to be named a three-time AMCC Player of the Year. 2007 marked the third season in a row that Baker either shared or earned the Player of the Year award.  Averaging 16.1 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game, Baker helped the Lady Mavericks to their second consecutive conference title. She earned second team D3hoops all-region honors and was also named to the NCAA Division III Kodak All-American Honorable Mention Team.
